Richardson, TX (September 20) The Richardson office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage – Dallas/Fort Worth (CBDFW) honored a long-standing tradition of supporting the Richardson community and the Richardson Independent School District at a New Teachers Luncheon. Approximately 200 community and business leaders hosted more than 350 new teachers to the RISD at the luncheon held at the Renaissance Dallas Richardson Hotel on August 12.

CBDFW’s Richardson office representatives for the Realtors in Action event were Pam Nelms, Branch Manager, and Lynne Kitchens, a leading producer at the office, who provided a gift basket as one of the 200 door prizes.

“Out of 340 new teachers in the RISD, 42 had graduated from Richardson schools,” says Ms. Kitchens.  “It’s a strong statement of support that these teachers were educated by the RISD and chose to return here to teach.”

“This annual event is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and is presented by the RISD Education Committee to honor new teachers,” says Ms. Nelms.  “The traditional event began in 1958 and is an opportunity for area businesses, organizations and individuals to show their strong interest in maintaining quality education for the students, faculty and staff.”

Author and Gen Y expert Nancy Barry delivered “an impassioned and inspirational keynote speech on The Power of You, illustrating the impact teachers have on a community,” says Ms. Kitchens.

“For many years Richardson has been acclaimed as having one of the most exemplary school operations in the Texas public school system,” says Ms. Nelms. “An outstanding school system very well could be the most critical element in local Realtors’ ability to promote the community, its homes and its schools as a highly desirable family environment.”

She adds, “Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has a tradition of many years of working with the Chamber of Commerce, the community and the school district.  We think it is imperative to help teachers understand they’ve made a good choice, Richardson is a great place to be and property values are healthy.”
