South Arlington, TX (July 12, 2009) – A long-time manager for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage – Dallas/Fort Worth (CBDFW) has been named to the board of the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC).

Joanne Justice, branch manager of CBDFW’s South Arlington office and a well-known name in North Texas residential real estate circles, has been appointed to the board of the industry’s most prestigious governing group by Governor Rick Perry.

Sue Meyer, president of CBDFW, congratulated Ms. Justice and called the appointment “a truly appropriate and gratifying move by the governor.” She adds: “TREC plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity and education of members of our profession. I can’t think of anyone with more knowledge of the industry nor of anyone who has contributed as much as Joanne has in terms of volunteering, committee memberships and simple, hard administrative work.”

TREC is the state's regulatory agency for real estate brokers and salespersons, real estate inspectors, education providers for real estate and inspection courses, residential service companies, timeshare developers, easement or right-of way agents.

“I’m honored to be named to the TREC board,” says Ms. Justice. “TREC exists to protect and serve the citizens of Texas and ensure real estate service providers are honest, trustworthy and competent.”

She called the position an important role in setting the standards for integrity in an industry frequently vulnerable to less than honest activities, especially during a challenging economic period unlike any ever experienced by the professionals of this era.

The Commission also licenses real estate inspectors, residential service companies, real estate schools and registers timeshare properties.

Ms. Justice earned her Realtor’s license in 1971, her broker’s license in 1973 and was a sales associate, manager and vice president/general manager for two local real estate brokerages before joining Coldwell Banker in 1992.

She has been a Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager since 1985 and has received numerous awards: TAR Distinguished Service Award; Arlington Board of Realtors (ABR) Distinguished Service Award; Fleetwood Newberry Meritorious Service Award; ABR Edgar Bird Award (twice); Omega Tau Rho; ABR President's Meritorious Service Award; and ABR Realtor of the Year.

With TAR she served as vice chairman of the Risk Reduction Committee; professional Standards; Realtor of the Year committee; TAR Region III vice president; director; vice president of the Texas Realtors Foundation; and chairman of the Multiple Listing Service Committee.

National Association of Realtors’ (NAR) positions she has held include chairman of the Large State Leadership Forum; chairman of the State Leadership Forum; and national director from 1987-1994 and from 2007 to the present. She has served on numerous forums, committees, and subcommittees.
